What is Formal Recruitment (“Rush”)?

Formal Recruitment or “Rush” is a time period usually at the beginning of a Spring semester when interested individuals can get to know more about Sigma Omega Nu and other organizations as a whole by meeting sisters from the chapter. Formal Recruitment is free of charge and non-binding, so you have the ability to see what we are about. Recruitment events vary per year but typically include Informationals, Open House, Sisterhood Night, and Philanthropy night.

How much time does being a Sunnie require?

You determine whether you take on the responsibilities of chapter or national positions as each position requires different commitments. All new sisters can expect to attend a chapter meeting each week as well as event planning or committee meetings. All chapters also host and/or participate in several events during the school year as well, all of which may require extra time and effort. This, however, does not go above any students academic career and class responsibilities as we all understand that academics come first.

What happens once I graduate?

Being a member of Sigma Omega Nu is a lifelong opportunity. Once you are an initiated sister, you remain a sister for life. It is up to you whether you decide to remain active in your chapter or remain supporting the chapter as an alumnus.  Being a sister means having a connection with hundreds of other sisters in the nation whether it is in college campuses or in life after college. The more time that goes on, the more our sisterhood grows! Sisters are constantly sharing the special moments in their life with one another even after college life and for us, sisterhood is a lifetime connection. We are always excited to help each other grow. Sigma Omega Nu provides various streams of support including career, internship, and, scholarship opportunities and a networking web available to all members.
